I’ve had the honor and pleasure of being interviewed by Nancy Ferrari on the SparkIt Network.

Among all the things we spoke about—including how I escaped death four times in 72 hours while hiking in India—are some of the factors of success and making a positive impact in the world.

A big one is having a clearly defined purpose…and how critical that is for BIG SUCCESS vs. plain old success.

(Nancy is a wonderful interviewer because I never quite know what questions she’ll ask, or where the interview will take us.)

We’re in a culture and a time when there’s a lot of lip service about living and working in a way that’s aligned with your purpose. But so few of us were taught how to truly identify, connect with, and express it.

There’s a combination of generic education, standardized testing, and a set of norms that are thrust upon us…that we didn’t choose…that comes from families, friends, school, religion, society, media, direct experience, and/ or the workplace.

So success starts with choice….and letting go of the things that keep us from our greatness, from our gifts, and from identifying, embodying, and living our true and unique purpose.

Do you feel like you’re “on purpose”?

If you didn’t respond with a resounding YES, then here are 5 steps that you can take to make the shift (or take it further).

1. Be who you are, not who someone told you to be.

2. Own your greatness and envision yourself as an expert, authority, and / or thought leader.

3. Let your future success take care of itself by creating more and more success every single day.

4. Think, speak, and act like a leader (whether you call yourself that or not).

5. Do what you need to do to get clear on your purpose (for your business and for your life) and then go out there and make a bigger impact (whether it’s 1 or 10 or 10,000 people).

There are oodles of even more goodies in the interview, including:

• how you can stand out in the marketplace
• 3 ways that you can position yourself as a thought leader, authority, or expert
• and much, much more…

There’s a great quote from Gerard Way that says, “One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it’s worth watching.”

For me, that’s what this is all about.

I hope you enjoy the interview and please share this with people who you know will benefit.

Thanks and happy holidays!

Cheers,
Ben
