Conscious selling will make your close a win win. Here are 5 simple steps that will revolutionize your sales and conversions.

When you make an offer to your potential clients, do it in such a way that they are fully committed to their choice to invest in you. Or fully committed to not. The key here is to make it conscious.

Because, if you’re sensing a wishy-washy commitment, the chances of them investing in your product or service are about as low as Sarah Palin uttering a coherent sentence.

But if they actually do make the investment (while being wishy-washy), the likelihood of them following through with your system or process are slim to none…even if you know (and they know) it will make their lives better.

And if this happens, it will drain your energy, eat up your time, and leave them dissatisfied with their results. Not good.

So what’s the solution?

To help people get fully committed (to yes or no), consider these 5 steps.

1. Set the intention that you conversation will be a win-win for yourself and the other person, regardless of the outcome.

2. Ask lots questions and listen very closely to what this person is saying, how they’re saying it, and be aware of their body language. In a nutshell, bring empathy into the mix so you can:

A. see the situation through this person’s eyes; and

B. understand what they really need (not what you assume they need).

3. Educate them, so they can make the right choice for their situation. Be crystal clear about how your product or service can make their lives better.

4. Deliver (and over-deliver value) so you can impact their life, regardless of whether they invest in you or not.

(Chances are good that you’ll get a referral and/or testimonial out of the conversation, even if you don’t make the sale. Just don’t forget to ask for it!)

5. Use the right amount of ethical influence so you can help them take the leap.

This is a critical moment where being conscious really comes into play. From a place of love, care, and respect, help this person understand what can happen in their business (and/or their life) if they don’t take the leap.

Think of a mama bird and baby bird sitting in a nest. The baby bird is all cute, snuggly, warm, and gets meals delivered (thanks to mama).

And then…the big day.

Mama bird starts dismantling the nest and nudges the baby bird to the edge of the tree branch, or the edge of a craggy cliff.

Baby bird hesitates, cries out, maybe even tries to hide.

So mama bird gives a loving push, and baby bird falls…then realizes she can fly!

And she soars off into the big, beautiful, blue sky.
