Check your head and let it all go (so you can make good choices). When writing & launching your book. When rebranding your business. When living your life.

 

Because there’s a lot that you want to do and accomplish. And there are all of the things that you’re used to accomplishing (because I know you’re that kind of smart, accomplished person). Sometimes you have that feeling: you realize you’re starting again. You’re a beginning learner again. And that can create a big information gap and a lot of anxiety as a result.

So I offer you the possibility to work it backwards.

Get your big vision in place. Then work it back to what you can do right now, so you really feel confident you’re going to get it done. Then start with the first bit. Take that first step. Focus on it and handle it (even for 5 minutes). Because when you take the next step, you know you handled the first step. So you don’t have to worry about it. And then, the next step… focus and learn again.

Now you’ve got two steps handled.

In a nutshell, you are always focusing on learning one small thing at a time and then reinforcing that success. So let it go. Just do the next thing and keep your focus on the big picture. Hold the vision in your palm, not in your fist.

Like a client of mine named Deirdre…

…WHO RUNS THREE businesses, takes care of her parents, and has four dogs (two of whom are puppies). On our calls, she kicks things off by listing everything she’s learned and accomplished in the previous weeks. It’s amazing and inspiring. But to hear her talk about it… she’s always worrying about how long things are taking. So part of my role is to reflect her accomplishments and reframe her challenges. And

The other part is to help her shift her perspective. Instead of focusing on where she is now (her successes) and where she wants to be (her vision), she often focuses on the (painful) gap in between.

Lots of “should have”, “not enough”, etc.

So we write down Deirdre’s biggest & loudest fears and doubts. And then use that energy and transform those (sometimes icky) words into an active, vocal, vision of her future self.

  1. Intention is powerful and relevant, and it changes lives.
  2. Intention is powerful.
  3. Intention is relevant.

Like in the situation that a patient were to die (after a surgeon has done all she can to save their life). The surgeon’s intent was to heal. Intention informs the thoughts you have, they words you say, and then actions you take. SO WATCH OUT! Because how you react to a problem might make the problem worse, last longer, or both. This is especially dangerous when you’re not getting enough clients, when losing business, etc.

Remember that your intention and attitude don’t just affect your reality. They create/inform your reality: wealth, health, love, happiness, success, joy, and fulfillment.

This is a truth that has come to us through thousands of years of wisdom and many spiritual traditions.I It also comes to us from quantum physics. In other words, your mind affects the people and the world around you. (Even ‘observation’, on its own, changes the fabric of the universe around us.)

So here’s what you do:

  1. choose the intention, attitudes, and (therefore) actions that cultivate a generous state of mind. Live ethically so you can create a happy world.
  2. stay healthier by transforming your experiences of anger and other negative mind states. (Don’t repress. Love them so they leave by themselves. Smiling/loving-kindness meditation is great here.)
  3. when things screw up, don’t take it personally. (Smile, take a deep breath, and take the next step).

And keep dreaming about what you want — and feeling it in your body — and trusting that it’s coming…
